Juneau Area Reports Well, I had to get out, and what I got out of getting out was a trophy-class , soggy, wind-blown spanking of Alaska proportions. Trolled most of Thursday and Friday and half of Saturday. Not a strike. Hit eastern Auke Bay, mouth of Tee Harbor up the Breadline, and a couple short-ish shots through other spots. Plenty of bait in Auke Bay, especially right around the harbor. Granted, I'm not really dialed in, but I tried a variety of depths and hardware, always with at least one herring down there. Finally quit on Saturday when the gusts to 30-35 kept blowing me over the downrigger lines. Pulled in some dungies and happily drowned my cold sorrows in butter and beer. Plenty of humpbacks moving through, and a few spots of sun made for some pretty nice moments. My 2-year old son complained when the sun broke through for a moment on Saturday -- "Daddy! It's too bright!! Turn off the moon!" |
