Trivia stuff about Alaska

Do you know anything that is a trivia thing that relates to Alaska? If so, please post it here! I would like to know as much as possible: who was born there, something special about it, besides that Juneau is the first capital state that has fireworks... anything and everything that might be a question on a trivia show! Thank you!

I'll see what I can dig up. There's an "Alaska Almanac" that I keep on the boat that's full of that sort of thing... can't post it here though.

I cannot wait for the first bit of trivia. This is going to be a very interesting thread! The only trivia I know about Alaska is that Juneau was once called Harrisburg.

I don't know any trivia about Alaska but would love to learn some of the little things that people from Alaska would probably know and I wouldn't.

After doing a little bit of research, I found out that the US made .02 cents an acre when it purchased Alaska from Russia. I believe that equals out to about $7.2 million.

That's very cheap land, 0.2 per acre! Thanks for the tip. I know that the show "Northern Exposure" even though it was b ased in Alaska, was filmed in Canada and the state of Washington.

Everything was cheaper back then! I'll tell you what, if you find land for that price today, I know of a good bridge that I can sell you were in Lake Havasu. :-)

In 1926 13-year-old Bennie Benson from Cognac, Alaska designed the state flag. I found this one online. Maybe it will work for you.

Okay I did a Google search for Alaska trivia and got the following:
