Alaska Lodging

Need a place to stay in SE Alaska? No, you can't rent an igloo! Good beaches for a tent, rustic Forest Service Cabins, 4-Star Lodges and B&B's...Even Paris's Dad's place... If it's a roof over your head and a place to stay for a night (or a lifetime), this is the place to talk about it! The Alaska Lodging Forum is currently sponsored by the Alaska Wolf Lodge.

Default Are there any student discounts or hostals?

The son of one of my friends asked me about the hostals in Alaska, and how affordable are they for students. Are there any? I'm thinking that since it is so far, the "poor" tourists are not really too much into going there, Am I wrong?

There is one hostel in Juneau, and maybe a facility or two in Sitka and Ketchikan, but that's about it. To really "see" the area, you'll need to either bring a budget for B&B's, know someone to stay with, or bring your own housing as I do with the Can Can... A good number of less affluent tourists do visit SE Alaska, however. There's plenty of space to camp, kayak, etc... just be sure you know what you're doing and are fully prepared for being a "tourist in bear country"...

I will pass the info about it. Since I want to get a motor home eventually, I think I will make the turn up north to visit Alaska. That will be great! If I do it any time soon (depending if I win the Lotto) then I'll let you know.

Yep, always do your research beforehand, be sure you've got all you need to avoid "accidents"
