| I just read an article about global warming and started thinking about the whales in Alaska and how that was going to affect them. I just hope we can turn things around before it does start to affect them because they are the biggest creature on this earth. It would be such a shame to lose them.

If those of us in Alaska were to "turn things around" and go in an opposite direction as far as climate change is concnerned, we would be getting warmer... Right now, Juneau has been getting more snow in the winter than ever recorded, many glaciers are advancing, and temperatures here are, on average, declining. How can anyone claim there is "global warming" when we are cooling off up here? We can see from a great number of studies and archaeological digs that the earth does everything in cycles. Most of those cycles are so long, that humans haven't been keeping records for more than the last few hundred years. Take the "polar tilt" concept... were YOU around 100 Million years ago to witness what happened the last time our Northern pole shifted a few degrees away from the sun? The rest of the planet got warmer since it was angled toward the sun, and the northern areas got colder... I'm not a climate analyst, just a logical thinker... before I go getting all teary-eyed about how humans are killing their own planet, I'd like to think that there are other, more logical reasons to explain what we think we're experiencing. There are other reasons to explain why our climate is changing, and the vast majority of them are for reasons well beyond our control as humans... -Case

| You do make some valid points about the climate. Here in Phoenix would get roller coaster temperatures. One week 70s and 80s and the next 80s and 90s and back again. I think the weather is strange all over the world. I also think that there is something to global warming, just not sure of its extent.

| It is hotter these days in our country. I think that Global warming affects our country differently. The only thing I know that can help stop or control Global warming is for us to work together. Try to support those environment program sin our area. |

| That's the problem. Nobody wants to work with anybody. I think it will come down to the wire before anybody realizes how bad it really is. Then everybody will scramble together to try and fix it and it will be too late. But, it will bring everybody together.

| Well, yesterday was Earth Day and they call this Earth Week. So you'll probably see a lot more those advertisements this week. It would be nice if more people paid attention. My contribution to the environment is not driving a car.

Of course, everyone in town is doing what they can to cut back on electric usage... stores all over town have half their lights off, no street lights, and I'm line drying my clothes and un-plugging the bait freezers... Happy Earth Week! -Case

| Doesn't no street lights make it dangerous? That would really bother me. Businesses keeping half their lights off is a good thing. I suppose it's the only time of the year you can really line dry your clothes isn't it? As for the freezer, I suppose if nobody opens it the temperature would remain the same. But I was always told that it would take more electricity to get the temperature back where it's supposed to be if it was unplugged. I'm probably wrong. We should get an "E" for effort!

| How's the wind in Alaska? Maybe wind farms to produce electricity will be an answer for cheaper electricity bills. In Europe they are very much located everywhere that he wind blows. And for what I've seen, the climate changes have impacted more the Antartic Circle than the northern hemisphere. |
