West Point cabin is located in Portage Bay about 25 miles from Petersburg.
The cabin is a relatively new structure set out on the beach fringe with nice windows so it gets lots of light. It was originally built as an accessible cabin and the last time I visited that was still the case. It has a wood ramp and walkway with plenty of room to get from the beach to the cabin, no steps or other problems that I could see. The beach had a secton of fiberglass grating which stabalized the surface for wheel chairs kayak carts wheel barrows or just someone who needs really flat ground to walk on. The cabin is set at the mouth of the bay and provides great beach walking opportunities. The tide runs in and out of the narrow mouth right in front of the cabin and is pretty cool just to sit and watch the commings and goings from the porch or inside the cabin.
Halibut and salmon fishing are good just outside the bay and deer, waterfoul, Black bear wolves and moose reside in the bay or nearby.
This is a really beautiful cabin. It is also closer to town than other cabins I have described. Those two factors make it harder to find an open rental time. Petersburg Ranger district only$25 per night. Follow the link to check it out.

This cabin can be reached by Charter Boat out of Ptersburg, Float plane, personal boat and since it is only 25 miles if weather permits even a skiff or kayak is a possibility.
I think I just figured out how to add a photo.
